The Storyboard of 'Computer Rabies' by Annie Kuzovin, Alisha Seeto, Ruby Roorda and Izzy Fred
Its the First day back at St Hildas school, where laptops are used freely in the school day. Stassiaa Nivozuk just got a new mac for her birthday so she decided to take it to school to show her friends.
Before the school day starts Stassiaa Nivozuk checks her e-mails and facebook status.
Izzy notices that Stassiaa Nivozuk has a new mac and her friends ask her about it.
As Stassiaa Nivozuk tries to show izzy some of the new features, the evil laptop closes onto annie’s finger as she reatches for the trackpad.
Painful and bloody, Stassiaa Nivozuk finger was almost severed by her new computer. She is shocked and scared that her mac would turn against her.
Stassiaa Nivozuk, izzy and ruby huddle in the corner as the evil mac closes in. Scared, they try to defend themselves but they know they have no hope against the evil wrath of the computer.
The three school girls lie dead and dying on the floor, the laptop proving to be evil and corrupt, ready to terrorise other school children.
Group Photo Activity
Storyboards
Basically, we had to make up a story board of a film that was about the first day back at school. It could be anything, and it had to be done in 6 photos. Annie, Izzy and Ruby were in my group and we decided to make a horror story where all our characters die at the end. I had the chance to take many of the photos which was one because I got to see the rule of thirds rule in action. We tried using the golden spiral, golden triangle and angles and distances to create a variety of different shots. Some of the locations at school that we took the photos were at the Pre Prep building, Admin building, outside the chapel and in the Mulphy Room.
The Assignment
Overall I enjoyed the assignment, and I can honestly say that when I watch movies and TV shows, I secretly analysis the multimedia. It really annoys me sometimes, but I can just imagine what concept it belongs to. I think that all this information would be useful for making a film to make it feel and look more professional. I think that this assignment has helped me to understand film better and it should help me make a better film later on in the year. I thought that it was a good assignment, but the word limit should have been longer. I just fit the exact amount of words that we could have, and it would have been better to have a larger word max. I thought that the draft marking was good, however i did not know what i needed to change on the second and third pages as Mr Andrews only marked the first page.
Analysing The Lord of the Rings
I found it reasonably easy to analysis the Lord of the Rings and find aspects from each sub heading. For my planning, I watched the scene about 2 times, and then the next couple of times I watched it I wrote down first the Mise en scene, and then the second time for Cinematography and then another time for Sound and editing and then a last time for everything just in case. Everytime I would start working on my creative media assignment, I would start by watching the scene again. I had to work on my paragraph structure a lot, and when I got my draft back, I had to compress my sentences together and take up some useless information that I had in there. I also had to cut down my word limit, which I did in the end.
Choosing my Film
For my Creative Media assignment, I chose to analysis the scene from Lord of the Rings. I have not watched the any of the Lord of the Rings movies, nor read any of the books. I thought that this would be a good opportunity to see what all the fuss about the Lord of the Rings is about, and why it was nominated and won many awards. After I watched the films, I knew that it was the film I wanted to choose for my assignment. I Had watched some of the other scenes, and bits of pieces of others, and nothing really appealed to me. I couldn’t really find much on film aspects in Two Weeks notice, and I did not really understand some of the films such as Chicago. The two that I appealed the most to me was The Lord of the Rings and House of Flying Daggers. I didn’t know which one to choose, but just chose the Lord of the Rings.
